Chairman International Cinema Technology Association (ICTA)
On behalf of the ICTA Board and members worldwide, let me add my welcome to CinemaCon 2026!
The ancient Greek philosopher Heraclitus had probably never set foot in a movie theater when he noted that “change is the only constant”, but he might as well have been talking about the cinema business in the 21st century. Over the course of our shared 125-year history, we’ve seen countless threats as well as responses to those threats, always resulting in renewed vitality for an industry that is so often declared in decline. Time after time, those resuscitative responses have been enabled by new or advanced cinema technologies, and we keep coming back stronger than before.
One unique aspect of film compared to almost every other artform is that it depends on technology, which is one reason why cinema has been so resilient throughout its history. Cinema technology continues to improve, advance, and innovate – but never more so than in just the past several decades. Through advances in technologies that allow higher contrast and dynamic range imaging, experiential immersion, software and network infrastructure, seating, linear sound systems and more – ICTA members are continually widening the gap between what can be experienced in the home and what can be experienced only in the movie theatre.
We also continue to expand ICTA’s core mission of education and training on the technologies that enable exhibition. We are committed to increasing our global presence at industry events with programming and recognition of excellence in exhibition.
As the leading global organization representing cinema technology, the ICTA is proud to support our members at the CinemaCon 2026 trade show and suites. Every year, our members highlight what’s new and vital for the ongoing power of theatrical exhibition. We’re also grateful to Cinema United and the CinemaCon team for the opportunity to keep exhibitors informed about the latest developments.
If you’re wondering what we’re all about, please stop by the ICTA booth 2320 in the Augustus ballroom to learn more about other new initiatives and programs. Membership is open to all those with an interest in Cinema technology including Exhibitors, Technology providers, System integrators, Consultants, and the Media.
